Slash Commands

Custom aliases turn a name of your choice into any command line. Create them under Settings → Custom Aliases or with the /alias command. Built-in commands always take priority, so an alias can never shadow one (you can, however, override a command that is normally passed straight to the server, such as /join).

The expansion is itself a command (no leading /), and may contain these variables:

$channel (or $chan)   the current buffer  channel or query name
$network (or $net)   the current network's name
$server             the connected server's hostname
$1 … $9          the individual words typed after the alias
$*               every argument, as a single string
$me (or $nick)   your current nick on this network
$$               a literal dollar sign

A variable with no value (e.g. $2 when you only passed one word) expands to nothing. Aliases are stored on-device and persist across restarts, and expansion is one level deep an alias cannot call another alias.

/sysinfo shares device information in the current buffer:

/setname changes your real name without reconnecting. Requires the server to advertise the setname IRCv3 capability.

Ghost + reclaim a nick add these as post-connect commands with a 2–3 second delay:

/raw useful for sending protocol lines not wrapped by a dedicated command:

/raw CAP LS 302
/raw MONITOR + nick1,nick2

/monitor IRCv3 watch list. The server reports each watched nick's current status when you add them, then notifies you on every state change. Subcommands take a single special modifier per call:

/monitor +alice,bob   ; add nicks
/monitor -alice       ; remove a nick
/monitor L            ; list current monitor list
/monitor S            ; request status of all watched nicks
/monitor C            ; clear the list

If the server doesn't support MONITOR, /monitor tells you up front instead of showing a raw 421 error.

Mute / quiet /mute sets +q on networks that support it (most modern ircds), and falls back to +b $~a/extban on networks without quiet. The mask types accept the same letters as /ban: n (nick), u (user), h (host), d (domain), a (account).

/find vs /gfind /find (and aliases /grep, /search) searches the current buffer's scrollback. /gfind / /gsearch searches every loaded buffer on the network. Both operate on in-memory scrollback only they do not read disk log files.

Reactions react to recent messages by emoji using /react and /unreact. The optional [n] picks the message n messages back (default 1). Requires the +draft/message-reactions IRCv3 cap; servers that don't advertise it will see this as a regular notice. In the chat, tap a reaction under a message to add or remove yours, and long-press it (or choose See who reacted from the message menu) to see who reacted.

DCC /dcc works from any buffer. In a private message or a DCC chat the nick can be left out, and the person you are talking to is used:

/dcc send names the recipient before the file picker opens, so a typo doesn't send a file to the wrong person. A secure chat prints the certificate fingerprint of whichever side is acting as the TLS server; read it out to the other person over another channel to make sure nobody is in the middle. DCC is off until you turn it on in Settings › File transfers.

Account registration /register and /verify create a services account through IRCv3 draft/account-registration instead of NickServ. The server decides what it needs, so start with a bare /register to see the form:

A successful registration logs you in immediately. Failures come back as plain-language hints rather than raw error codes.

Metadata & display names /metadata reads and sets IRCv3 draft/metadata-2 keys. HexDroid subscribes to display-name and avatar automatically and shows them beside nicks (the real nick is always shown too, so a display name can't be used to impersonate anyone):

Service shorthands /ns, /cs, /ms, /hs, /bs, /as and /x3 all route to /msg <Service> …. Type the parent command followed by a space and a chip row of common subcommands (IDENTIFY, GHOST, OP, REGISTER, …) appears, narrowing as you type. The exact verb set depends on whether the network runs Atheme, Anope, or another services pkg.

Shorthand mode commands /op, /deop, /voice, /devoice, /ban, /unban, /kick, /kickban all target the current channel if you omit the #channel argument.

NickServ shorthand use /msg NickServ … or services aliases if your network supports them:
